I actually like the feeling of hating the Mariners again. Years of us beating them down I kind of felt sorry for them. That and they were my dad's team.

I can relate. My dad (born in Philadelphia) was two years old when the A's won their last World Series in Philly in 1930. The team then became pretty much horrible for the next twenty years or so. The Phillies were also very bad during those decades, so my dad didn't really have a team to feel good about while growing up in Philly.

When my parents moved to the Bay Area around 2000, I was actually happy to see his A's (in Oakland now) doing well, because he was happy.
