The only way this team succeeds is if the starting pitchers go deep into games, to save us from the bullpen.  Send CJ another copy of that memo.

Albert Pujols was a great player.

It really is amazing how quickly and drastically Albert fell off. You'd figure with his approach at the plate(during his prime), he'd be able to still be a great hitter in his twilight years. This is a guy who hit nearly more HR's than he struck out every season, and routinely walked over 100 times. Now, he has trouble recognizing offspeed stuff and lunges at balls in the dirt and pulls outside pitches for weak grounders to 3B/SS. He still does a good job of making contact and doesn't K a lot, but the BB's have gone down dramatically and he is swinging more and more at stuff out of the zone

Wow, I'm actually considering turning off the game. I can't remember when I've ever done that by the 2nd game of the season. It just really feels like last year.

It's odd because those are often referred to as "old player skills" which almost makes it seem mental.

Just showed on TV that of the 16 runs the Mariners have scored, 12 have been scored with 2 outs.

 

Ouch. Good thing Scioscia is relaxed and Butcher sleeps well.

Not to play Monday morning QB, but why the he'll leave CJ in to face Ackley there? He was clearly gassed and Ackley had already burned him once. It was only a 3 run game, you still have 12 outs . . .
