Amber Alert - Streak Broken? You decide

Recommended Posts

The yk  California Amber Alerts have  two long, long streaks going:

One is they have been children of color;

Two is that it is a family squabble.

This most recent Amber Alert breaks one of the Ripken-esque streaks... this is a little white boy.

But the abductor has the same last name, so I am going to assume its a family member.

The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert Monday for a missing Long Beach boy.

The alleged abduction occurred on Thursday, March 6 in Long Beach.

The child, 12-year old Nicholas Johnston, is described as white, 4'8" tall, 80 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes.

The suspect, 49-year old Sri Johnston, is described as a white woman, 5'1" tall, 126 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Authorities say she may be driving a tan, four-door 1998 Saturn with a California license plate of 4AUU679.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call the Long Beach Police Department at (562) 570-9650.

I like this part.

Long Beach police then alerted hospitals, public transportation agencies and law enforcement, and said the incident did not meet Amber Alert critera at the time of the initial report.

After the DA's office said it was considering filing charges and detectives "provided the DA's Office with new information,"  CHP issued an Amber Alert, police said.
