At this point Blanton knows he has nothing to gain making the Angels roster, he would just be buried in the bullpen. He can't request a trade, neither the Angels or another team wants work a deal for his present worth.

His best move is an outright release. That clears him to pick up a minor league contract somewhere else and have his comeback year he will never be afforded as an Angel. The fan base doesn't want to see him and the coaching staff doesn't trust him. It is a no win for him to stick around.

So there is a great example of how pointless replay is going to be. Clearly a fair ball there but since it's beyond the 7th inning the umpires do not have to grant a replay, so in this case the call stands because the umpires won't question their own calls...

I thought that as well. He was on a dead run, the ball didn't reach the warning track and it still landed 20 feet past him.

Interesting that Calhoun is playing the whole game (good job by him drawing a BB in the 9th).  I guess they want to get him as many ABs as possible this spring if he's going to be the leadoff hitter.
