Uh-oh...

"Hamilton said he suffered the injury as he took a lead off first base and then planted his left foot to run. He said he would be on crutches for about two days while the spasm eases in his left leg.

"I can't straighten it right now," Hamilton said.

He said he would be evaluated at the end of the week. He plans to take the injury "a week at a time" and be prudent in his rehabilitation.

"It sucks. I felt really good swinging the bat," Hamilton said. "I'm not going to rush back. There's no reason to rush."

Yeah hopefully he gets back quicker than that.  My favorite part of the article was this exerp:

Jered Weaver, the projected opening-day starter, is scheduled to start Friday's Cactus League opener against the Chicago Cubs. In past years, an Angels starter might throw two innings in his first spring game, but Dipoto said he anticipates Weaver will throw three innings.

Dipoto also said the veteran relievers would pitch more innings. The Angels generally have held such relievers out of Cactus League games until mid-March, under the belief they needed relatively few innings to prepare for roles as short relievers.

Sounds like Dipoto is taking more control, trying to stop the slow starts.

I'm going to give Scioscia a little credit here, too. Sounds like an organizational decision to make some changes, and we know

that change is hard for Scioscia.

This is all good. Lets hope it carries forward into other aspects.

Hammy not the only player with a calf strain.  Chase Headley diagnosed with Grade 1 strain as well. Expected to miss 2-3 weeks:

Padres third baseman Chase Headley underwent an MRI exam on his calf injury and it confirmed the original diagnosis of a Grade 1 strain. Corey Brock of MLB.com reports that Headley is expected to miss another 2-3 weeks.

The Babe wasn't soft.

Ruth was out like a light for about five minutes, as the team’s physician checked him out. Finally he woke up and, amazingly, insisted on returning to the game. He got two more hits and drew cheers as he limped around the bases, having hurt his hip in the crash. And then he stayed on and played the second game of the doubleheader as well, though he was beginning to look a bit worn.
