John Dingell to retire after 58 years (!) in Congress

He's been in Congress since the Eisenhower administration.  

 

I don't even know how to comment on that.

Get this...he won a special election in 1955 to replace his father, John D. Dingell, Sr, who died. Dingell Sr. had served for 22 years, since 1933.

 

So the district has been represented by the two Dingells for the past 81 years!

 

Now Dingell's wife, Debbie, is the favorite to succeed him. She'll be running for what basically is the Dingell seat. She's only 59 years old.
