Surprising Gatorade facts

Gatorade is not a good post-workout drink unless you're a world-class cyclist or marathoner.

The stuff that Coca Cola bottles now doesn't really resemble the original gatorade.  It's just an energy drink with slightly less sugar.

incorrect.

post workout you muscles will be low on glycogen and glucose so you want to inject simple sugar back in to start the glucogenesis process.

that's about the only time its a good idea, other than immediately on waking up unless you are doing cardio (then have it after).

you can do this with dextrose, maltodextrin, etc but really any simple sugar (fast digesting) will suffice.

so a 20oz gatorade is perfect.

Dear lord, no wonder everybody is so fat.  The ignorance is frightening.

I guarantee you are either fat or have to work out harder than real healthy people to make up for the garbage you consume if you really believe the absurdity you posted.

Nobody outside of high endurance athletes ever need to consume NINE TEASPOONS of pure sugar (much less sugar derived from corn) before, during, or after a workout.  Jesus.

calm down dude.

i apologize for frustrating you with pesky science.

post-workout simple sugar (e.g., dextrose found in gatorade powder, or even better dextrose+maltodextrin) is known to be valuable way to replenish glycogen stores while not being converted to fat (read up on hydrogen bonds and osmolarity).

but do what works best for you, no need for a hissy fit.

in the meantime here is a good video discussing the science, in painful detail, behind such an approach.
