Trade Deadline Scenario

I'm truly hoping that we will be in the hunt for a playoff berth when it comes down to the trade deadline. However, I'm going to assume at least one starter will struggle this year, so at the trade deadline do we trade for a guy like David Price or anyone else available?  It would be similar to the Greinke deal, but with the thin farm system, are we willing to give up guys like Lindsay, Cowart or Cron? I am hoping that all five starters have good seasons, but the reality is that at least one guy always struggles.  Would we go out and get Price if we are in a three way battle for the division title and there are multiple other teams in the wild card hunt?

The entire squad hasn't even reported to Spring training, and we're already talking about trade deadline trades? Trading for two months of David Price would most likely be a terrible idea.

I think it's a year and 2 months.  But unless we empty the farm completely, I don't think we have anything that would interest the Rays.  And even that might not be enough.

Price is under control for next season too but that's not even the biggest concern when it comes to Price, it's the fact that we have zero attractive trade assets. More likely targets I see are Jake Peavy if a couple of the Sox's young pitchers come up and perform (Barnes, Ranaudo, or Owens), I could see Buehrle becoming available, Marco Estrada from Milwaukee, Brandon McCarthy or hell Towers makes dumb moves, Randall Delgado, the Padres have a ton of pitching. The Angels would have to go after mid-tier guys, not aces.
