Read an article today (was it the LA TIMES?) where Blanton is listed as the fourth or fifth starter -- definitely IN the rotation.......

 

that's not exactly my understanding of what the situation is, but that's what the article said.

 

Can I adjust my over and under prediction on 84.5 wins if Blanton is our fourth / fifth starter or anywhere near being in the Halos rotation?

Only the drumstick is fried.  The wing is still pretty raw.  

 

Blanton on the other hand is a chicken dinner on Rodeo Drive.  Worth about a Costco $4.99 chicken, charged about $49.99 in a fancy restaurant, and still not as good as the $4.99 chicken.

He will get a handfull of starts in the spring and reevaluate from there. However, I am hoping Shoemaker or LeBlanc can at least be not as bad.

Of course even if Shoemaker or LeBlanc (less likely) are better, the team will need more than one starter besides the main 5 to make starts this year.

I've lost 10 pounds during the offseason maybe the Angels can sign me - I can't pitch worth a damn but I did lose 10 pounds - makes me 2 pounds better than Blanton

You're not staying at a Holiday Inn Express like Blanton, and you are clearly not in the best shape of your life.  You're just a skinny dude with dreams.

Anyone who thinks blanton won't be in the opening day rotation is crazy. This rotation might be fine, but has the potential to be the worst in baseball.

The bar is not that high for him. He could go 6 - 10 with a 5 ERA and give up 1.5HR/9 and be more improved than any other MLB pitcher.

I'll be rooting for JB to turn things around this season. He'll have a chance to compete for a starting job this spring as will many others.

His contract shouldn't be a factor in earning a starting job. If he sucks this spring ... he should be released.
