I usually hate when people cover The Beatles as it usually sucks for the most part. The performances last night were generally good. Jeff Lynn, Joe Walsh, and George Harrison's son was the best performance of the night I'd say.

But it wasn't all that impressive, imho. Katy Perry was awful, and the others ranged from fair to good.

 

Paul himself doesn't have much of a voice left at the age of 70, but he did his best. The really good parts of the show were the historical clips and some of the interviews.

I agree with TF for some of that.  I don't care for covers, though I liked Stevie Wonder.

 

I didn't like the special.   Too many awkward crowd shots of people rocking or nodding their heads.   Yoko and Olivia should have probably been able to say something (ok Yoko haters have at it.)

 

The stuff with Letterman was incredibly forced.

 

Why does LL Cool J host every CBS musical program?

 

In all, I fast forwarded through a lot of it.

 

I've seen Jeff Lynne sing too many Beatles songs over the years.   He did the same thing at the concert for George when Harrison died.

I completely agree. I thought it was bad form not to have them say anything. I was also really hoping that Paul and Ringo would have played a song with Sean Lennon and George's kid.

 

 

Also, after watching the special again, Alicia Keyes and John Legend doing Let It Be was amazing! They did it so good it made the song sound almost like it was written as a duet the entire time.

The beginning isn't that great. Don't Let Me Down was one of my favorites as well as Let It Be.
