Potential Pitching Trade Targets

Personally, I'd like to sign Erik Bedard and Jeff Karstens to minor league deals for depth and competition for the 5 spot. I don't see any of the remaining pitchers outside of Santana and Ubaldo as being deserving of a major league deal. I don't know what we would have to trade, but I looked around for guys buried in their team's depth chart who are probably available/ have fallen out of favor and would be much better options than the FA market has to offer.

I liked the idea of Marco Estrada for a while but with Garza signing there, it seems like they would try to hold onto Estrada and compete this year.

Minnesota is rebuilding, so I don't see them parting with young pitching for veteran players either.

I think the Brewers would be interested in Howie.  I could see Howie for Estrada and Hand.

I think it's too late for a big trade to happen, the guys I listed are just for depth and competition, which we are lacking. These are guys who might get DFA'd because they're out of options or are buried in the depth chart. Estrada and Howie are big names that I don't see getting moved this late. I could see something like Ianetta for Nicasio + prospect. At least one of Deduno or Diamond will be DFA'd because they are out of options. Same with Britton.

I think they'll be able to fill out the rest of the AAA roster and add some depth without having to make any trades at this point.  I would only make a trade if it meant they were able to bring in a legit and tested starter for the 3/4 spot which I doubt they have the horses for.

how or why are the Twins going to DFA Samuel Deduno. that guy can pitch. for all the names in that list I would get Samuel.

I don't think it's to late for a deal. Howie and Aybar have been shopped for a while now and something could still happen depending on other team and how their springs are shaping up. Adam Kennedy came over in a mid spring training deal.
