It was recovered by the Police/FBI today.  The ring leader of the thieves that stole it was a man named Universal Allah.  Glad they were able to recover it without any damage.

Stradivarius violins are considered the best ever made and being over 300 years old very few of them exist anymore.  I always think it is amazing that in 300 years they couldn't reproduce the sound.

that's because they used old growth timber from the forrests outside cairo. can't get that wood anymore.

Not quite 300 years old, but Martin Guitars is doing a great job reproducing the sounds of very specific guitars.

They take actual guitars from the 30's and 40's, X-ray them, study the bracing, take measurements and so on. They do their best to get the same or similar woods and build new guitars.

They don't have 75 years of play on them, but sound pretty close.
