Johnson is the prototypical leadoff hitter that the Angels could use in Anaheim right now to set the table for Mike Trout and the big boys. An excellent batting eye and understanding of what opposing pitchers want to do, Sherman reminds me a lot of former Angels' third baseman Chone Figgins. Like Figgins, Sherman has little power, but speed that can steal 30-40 bases a season, though he's still learning how to get good jumps off pitchers. When at Florida State Johnson won a gold glove, and he's been exceptional at the hot corner in his first season and a half in professional ball. Makes the routine plays and is quick laterally and coming in to get bunts and squib hits. Possesses a solid and accurate throwing arm, so he could stick at the hot corner in the mold of former fan favorite Chone Figgins.

Look for Johnson to begin his 2014 campaign in High-A Ball with the Inland Empire 66ers. Has a chance to shoot through the system with his exceptional defense and on-base skills, and at worst has all the makings of becoming a good utility player in the big leagues for years. If everything works out for Johnson, he could find his way on a team's starting lineup out of the leadoff spot at either the hot corner or second base.

We'll catch up with Johnson during the 66ers season, but here's a nice piece by the Seminole Sports Magazine on Sherm.
