I understand that it can be difficult transitioning from a professional sport to the real world, but this dude needs to retire while he still has his dignity.

Blasphemy!  I tell all my friends to keep plain pro-ball as long as they'll pay you..  There's always a real job to be found afterward.

The Yankees are boasting the oldest current starting lineup in MLB history I believe.

It's going to be fun when half of the Yankees team is hurt and Kelly Johnson is hitting cleanup for them.

Yet Vegas says they're not that bad...

Wow Vegas is really buying the Yankees this year.

I'm not seeing it. They still have gaping holes in the infield, have a very old team and a mediocre bullpen.

How Las Vegas Sets Sports Betting Odds:

...in sports like Baseball, Football, Hockey, Basketball, Soccer etc. a line is made by a casino line maker based on his or her analysis of the matchup and the anticipated outcome. The casino is essentially a "bookie." After the "opening line" is set, then the line fluctuates based on where the public's money is going. The casino's goal is move the line up or down so that the money is balanced on either side of the proposition and the casino has minimum exposure and makes its money off the vig (the amount it charges to make the bet). Most of the time, this works just fine for the casino, but sometimes line makers are wrong and the casino ends up with unbalanced money and has exposure to the proposition.

They're hoping people will be stupid enough to bet for them this year.

Either that or it was something around 15-1 and people are already stupid enough and bet for them.
