This is the part that surprised me. I grant you, I know a lot less about the selection for the NCAA baseball playoffs than I do about the one for March Madness, but this seems over the top.

UCI is playing a winner-take-all vs. Oregon St at 8pm Pacific.

 

Pepperdine won the Cal Poly regional, and travels to TCU.  

 

Cal Poly, Fullerton, San Diego St., Sacramento St., and ASU are out for the West-Coast teams

Meeting Texas in the first game, another team I detest. I could become a huge UCI fan before this is all over.

I just joined "shaggybevo.com" (as suggested by somebody on the Big West Boards).. Interesting to see how venomous it gets.  I went in with a first post about how I'm a rookie-troll, not really rooting for either team and respecting the Horns.  We'll see; it will be good for entertainment at least.

I don't really see a clear-favorite, tho Virginia and Vanderbilt are coming-into it very strong.  UCI is the only #3 seed left...  I think they need to throw their ace against Texas to have a chance to win it all.

Vanderbilt didn't even make the College World Series when they had David Price. Their only other appearance was in 2011, three years after Price debuted for the Rays.
