I'm looking at online backup solutions and trying to see if anyone has experience with them. I have probably 8 tb or so worth of data and I usually add about 1tb a year (photographs take up a lot of space). I have a local backup solution I'm working through, but I need to have an offsite solution as well...something that won't rely on me (e.g....oh...I don't feel like thinking about that now...I'll do it next week...month...months....) I was using Zoolz because they had a great deal last year. $36 for unlimited backup - including removable drives (which is key for me...I have approximately 10 removable drives) This year Zoolz jacked up their prices, significan…

https://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/internet/data-usage-what-are-the-different-plans-launching?ref=1 In this trial, XFINITY Internet Economy Plus customers can choose to enroll in the Flexible-Data Option to receive a $5.00 credit on their monthly bill and reduce their data usage plan from 300 GB to 5 GB. If customers choose this option and use more than 5 GB of data in any given month, they will not receive the $5.00 credit and will be charged an additional $1.00 for each gigabyte of data used over the 5 GB included in the Flexible-Data Option.

How do you share files between an Android phone or tablet -- one that has encryption enabled -- and a Windows PC? I'm guessing the private key created in Android must be imported into Windows somehow???

Hi All, I've been at this for an hour and have nothing to show, so I'm hoping that some of you might have an answer. I am currently trying to set up my girlfriend's son's computer on my network. It simply will not work. As far as I can tell, the laptop (HP Pavillion g6, Windows 7 Home Premium) is connected, but I can't actually get the browser to connect to websites. (Google Chrome) I have my laptop connected just fine (MacBook Pro, as well as my phone, and my girlfriend's phone. The odd part is that the computer works fine at my girlfriend's house using ATT. I have Verizon FIOS for internet and it will not work. To add to this madness, it used to work ju…

https://www.yahoo.com/tech/google-testing-service-to-connect-patients-with-doctors-99906328684.html Buddy just sent me this and it's exciting. The start up I work with does exactly this, but we do preventative and after/post care with it. I won't get into the ppm, but it's virtual medicine and aside from just doctors we also have all other aspects of healthcare.....therapists, psychiatry, nutritionists, etc. Pretty exciting times plus Obamacare is pushing healthcare this way as companies and employers look for alternatives to reduce their rising healthcare costs. There are a couple of companies that do what Google is trying....it's really just an advancement o…

Samsung has found a way to boost Wi-Fi speeds fivefold When it comes to Wi-Fi technology, it’s a tale of two speeds: the theoretical and the actual. Thanks to real-world elements like walls and household appliances, the maximum network bandwidth you see on a router’s box are never achieved – until now, if Samsung is to be believed. The technology giant claims to have developed a 60 GHz Wi-Fi technology that will bridge the gap between theoretical and actual Wi-Fi speeds. So, for example, a 1 gigabyte (GB) movie could be transferred between devices in fewer than three seconds, and uncompressed high-definition videos can be streamed from mobile devices to TVs i…

Scientists create a lithium-ion battery with super speed charging and longer life Researchers at Nanyang Technology University recently created a new kind of battery that charges super fast and has a shelf life of 20 years. The ultra-fast batteries can charge 70 percent in only two minutes and don’t need to be replaced every few years. The batteries will work for more than 20 years, a timeframe that’s nearly 10 times longer than the typical lithium-ion battery.

Startup touts noise elimination software for mobile phones Cypher CEO John Walker told FoxNews.com that his company has created a software algorithm that effectively strips out background noise on mobile phones. “We have created a stencil for the human voice, he said. “We take the incoming audio stream, put it through our filter and just take the human voice of the primary speaker. Cypher says that its technology can slash background noise by 99 percent and boost audio quality by 20 percent. The software certainly performed well when it was recently tested by FoxNews.com.

I've tried so many help resources and videos with not much help, so I figured maybe I could try here. I'll just copy and paste what I put on the Apple forums: Hello, I am having an issue with an Insignia Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter. The picture is working just fine, however, I am not getting any audio as it continually comes through the Macbook Pro. I have scoured the web and watched endless help videos and read many help sites and forums. The problem is I am not getting my TV on the audio output drop down list to select for audio. I only have Internal Speakers and a bluetooth speaker I set up a while back. Things of note: - The HDMI adapter does…

The level of detail this TV was producing is hard to overstate. Pixels were all but invisible from as close at 6 inches, and completely invisible from 3 feet. The result is a picture that comes as close to reality as we’ve ever seen, due in no small part to the sense of depth that is created by the intense resolution. For the first time upon approaching a TV, we weren’t entirely certain it wasn’t a framed work of art. After a few moments of watching moving footage, we were sold. LG’s pride and joy is delicious eye candy, pure and simple. http://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/forget-4k-lgs-98-inch-8k-tv-window-future-weve-waiting/#/7

apple has disclosed that some of their iphone 5 batteries are crap and they are now replacing them free of charge. there are links in the link i'm providing for you to check and see if you're eligible for a new battery. i've had nothing but trouble with my battery. it doesn't hold a charge for very long, even with the most casual use. i had to turn off LTE within a week of purchase because my battery was draining by at least 25% at night just sitting on my night stand. i finally took it in to the apple store and upon running a diagnostics test, they determined that at most it was only charging up to 75% capacity, even though it said 100% on the display. i qualified fo…

I recently moved my websites from shared hosting to a managed VPS provider (Knownhost). What's really kicking my ass is learning the WHM interface. Well, not so much the interface, but the extra functionality that comes with it. I realize it acts as the "master" to the individual cPanel account "slaves" and that's good for controlling various universal settings. What I haven't found yet are any tutorials that deal with the big picture, including what Average Joe's like me -- who are not resellers -- should be concerning ourselves with. I think I'm most frustrated by the what, why, and when of many WHM features. The intimidation factor prevents me from touching m…

Okay. So I saw a deal last week on Craigslist that I couldn't pass up. A brand new LG G3 was listed for $460. I ended up meeting the seller who showed me the phone. Sure enough, it was brand new, never activated. Coming from an LG G2, the screen size is noticeably larger, though the phone is not that much larger in size. LG did a solid job maximizing the space without making the phone as large as the Note 3. When holding the G3 it feels slippery like it can fall out of my hand. For me, this isn't an issue since I always keep my phones in a case. For others who prefer their phones naked, this can be a concern. The screen is phenomenal. I watched several clips fr…

My hubby had (notice past tense!) an apple laptop. He also had an external hard drive that he put all his music on. He used both iTunes and the regular apple programs to upload to the external hard drive. He no longer has an apple. He's actually using MY pc laptop. Is there a way to transfer all that music over to the pc laptop???

I have an older Microtek ScanMaker 5700 that was a good flatbed scanner until recently when image quality suddenly went to crap. This is what today's batch of Costco coupons looks like. The right side now has a long yellow streak that runs the length of every image. (the yellow areas are white in real life) What do you think? Fixable or an e-waste candidate?

Amazon announces 3D Fire Phone at Seattle eventCEO Jeff Bezos introduced the phone, which has a 3D display called Dynamic Perspective. Amazon is launching its own smartphone. The new phone, called the Fire Phone, will ship July 25 and cost $199 on a two-year contract. It’s available for preorder now. The phone’s most visible feature is its 3D display, called Dynamic Perspective. The Fire Phone has four user-facing infrared cameras that it uses to gauge the location of your face and eyes. As you move in relation to the phone, the image shifts on the screen to give you the convincing illusion that the interface or object you’re viewing has depth and layers.
