So it looks like the fate of the DACA program could be decided by the SC this week. Curious to what everyone's thoughts are on it. Do you want it to stay, or to end? Supreme Court to hear arguments on Dreamers in case against Trump's move to end DACA https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/supreme-court-hear-arguments-dreamers-case-against-trump-s-move-n1079311

Over 550 people killed in Syria today, and it hardly gets a blurb on the news. So sad. It is our problem, somewhat. Assad is a monster and there is no doubt he needs to go. And the sooner the better. A) The Syrian people are suffering B ) Jabhat Al-Nusra is lurking and waiting for the gov't to fall C) The war is beginning to spread to Lebanon, Iraq D) It wouldn't take much US force, no boots on the ground

74th conviction for man who threw coffee on 2-year-old How many breaks should we give a guy like this? Throw away the key on his 75th conviction? 100th? 200th? What if that coffee had been hot enough to disfigure that child? Would that have made a difference? Sure, let's try to help people like this...but in my mind you get three strikes and that's it. If we don't draw some clear lines and consistently enforce them, we'll have more incidents like this where good people are subjected to exposure to irresponsible idiots like this guy. The Seattle politicians are so bad up here, that cops from the Seattle Police Department are requesting transfers by the …

I don't visit here often, but know this was a topic of conversation at one point. I'm not far in, but between what I heard and also saw some snippets posted on Youtube this is up our alley for discourse. From the snippets he dives into some things we have pondered or suspected with regards to surveillance. Pretty fascinating if you have the time to listen.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-christian-right-is-helping-drive-liberals-away-from-religion/ Not surprising: The Christian church's unhealthy relationship with right-wing politics is driving people away from religion altogether. As an evangelical who holds more-progressive political views, I can totally understand why people would be turned off by the Trump slobberfest that's been happening in the evangelical church. How did Christian values ever become synonymous with Republican values? I do believe that Jesus would be passionate about protecting the lives of the unborn. I don't see him getting too worked up about the right to own firearms, building w…

As Shakespeare said, "The lady doth protest too much." People here like to bitch about the stupidities of the left, but gay conversion has to be up there among the worst of the stupidities (cruelties) of the right.

"While imparting data and thoughts to partners helps construct network, upsetting the workday to have a furious discussion over governmental issues or the most recent news story does not," the rules read. "Our essential obligation is to take the necessary steps we've each been enlisted to do, not to invest working energy in discussions about non-work themes." Representatives will almost certainly signal inward messages that damage organization rules to a recently made balance group. The organization's refreshed strategies don't boycott discussing governmental issues at work. They do expect directors to address discussions that become troublesome. Google's insi…

An excellent article that explores the evils of socialism. "Karl Marx took socialism to what he viewed as its natural conclusion: The “abolition of private property. Class warfare is a long-running theme in socialism, even in this country."

Either this man is a complete liar and a Trump stooge, or he has no more idea how government works than the President does. The debt, he said, was very “disturbing” and driven by “the three big entitlement programs that are very popular, Medicare, Social Security Medicaid...There’s been a bipartisan reluctance to tackle entitlement changes because of the popularity of those programs. Hopefully, at some point here, we’ll get serious about this.” Social Security isn't an entitlement program. Americans pay into it every pay period when they work. It isn't funded by income tax, and it has nothing to do with the deficit. Medicare isn't paid for with income tax r…

This came up in another discussion so i thought it post it here for S&Gs... I dont want to get into the why or the drama over it.... but if you look only at the situation as a whole i think most people agree they should be given proper humanitarian aid. The primary reason they are not getting that, assuming this to be true, is the severe overloading of the facilities. Please dont play the evil Trump bullshit here, lets stay on point. So... given this, how do we fix it? I see so many people bitching, but offering zero answers or solutions. Lets talk about em. I see 3 options... #1 turn them away, simply say we have no more room. This of course would re…

The house overwhelmingly and bipartisanly passed HR1044. HR1044 effectively double the number of so-called skilled workers allowed immigration visas. It seems they can get on the same page when properly compensated to do so. I work in IT, and i cant imagine why this is required when we have so many good people either out of work, grossly underpaid, or transitioning to other careers. This is about payroll, not skillsets, and there is literally nothing anyone can tell me to convince me otherwise after 20+years in the field. Ill vote against every one of these bastards given the chance regardless of party. .

They are destroying the industry I've been in for 25 years. This stupid competitive bidding that allows companies to undercut pricing drastically, just to get the business and then go out of business while undercutting reimbursements for everyone.....SMFH. Home healthcare reimbursements were never that huge to start with. And the stupid profiteering insurance companies want to do the same thing. Money hungry much, government and insurance companies?

our medical system is a joke its pathetic, my brother is having seizures left and right, constant dosages of lithium does nothing, yet they are trying nothing else, and refuse to look at other options Meanwhile, Ive had a cough since January.... The few weeks I was in Mexico, I saw a doctor who did X-Rays, listened in with stethoscopes, broke down why certain things should be ruled out, what different symptoms could mean, called me to ask how the antibiotics were working...... for $85 total USD after 3 visits plus meds w/o insurance, and never any waiting time Here in the incompetent states of America my doctor, "just doesnt know what it could be anymo…

Should be incredibly good laughs. Question for people really into politics. If you're Rick Perry or Rick Santorum and you don't make the first debate, are you pretty much done in terms of having any possible shot at the nomination?

Hey y'all, I've started to pop my head back in AW a bit more now! Not sure how many of you remember me, but I wrote AW blogs on the prospects something like 6 years ago. Anywho, I'm an investigative journalist now and although I realize this type of content might not be so popular for all on the board, I wrote a book about the Russia investigation. I really tried to write it as non-partisan as I could, focusing on documents and maps and hard evidence so I wanted to share with y'all. I worked really hard on it. Really looking forward to jumping back on the AW board. https://www.amazon.com/Real-News-Investigative-Foundations-Trump-Russia/dp/1510746781…
