Zero Angels http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb/breaking-down-the-top-100-prospects-list?ymd=20140123&content_id=66929504 I'm willing to bet there will be an Angel or two in the midseason rankings.

Chris Iannetta and Hank Conger gave the Angels above-average offensive production last season, but opposing basestealers enjoyed a lot of success against them. Catching duties will again fall to the pair in 2014, and they hope for improvement in every area. View the full article

First of all, it is useful for me to point out that I'm a Texas Ranger fan and have been since they moved to Texas in 1971. But, more importantly, I'm not a troll. For the most part, I enjoy reading Angelswin because there are some genuinely funny comments on here. If I had wanted to be a troll and stir up trouble, I would have done so long before now. However, I have to make a "hypocrite'' call after reading a lot of recent postings concerning Matt Garza. I may be wrong, but it seems as if the majority of posters would love to get Matt Garza for the Angels' rotation. This, however, is in direct conflict with the "Garza fits right in with the Rangers'' thread which ap…

What if we signed Arroyo for two years and made a push for Price when he becomes a FA in 2016. The Arroyo contract should allow us to extend Trout and still put a competitive Rotation with some depth for the next couple of years plus it allows us time for Skaggs and Santiago to develop. Imagine our rotation in 2016. Price Weaver (contract year) Wilson (contract year) Richards Skaggs Santiago Green. That's pretty stinking solid. Also depending on how we draft and how the young guys develop it gives us a trade chip in Wilson. Not sure what the money would look like in 2016 but two big contracts come off the books in Weaver and Wilson and Hamiltons comes off in 2…

I'm not going to pretend that I know what the other organizations in the AL West have been doing. But I know some of you have really been following the transactions of the other AL west teams. If the season were to start today, How does the AL West play out for the 2014 season?

Can someone who knows our prospects tell me what happened to this kid? He was a big guy, and was our last pick in the 2009 draft. He had 19 at bats in the AZL that year, but hasn't had a minor league at bat since. I am curious as to what happened with him but can't find anything on the internet.

In my opinion this is who we should be going after. Let me offer you many reasons why. This is a short term solution. If he says a 2-3 year contract, by the time he is done we should have much more depth as far as Starting Pitching. The guy is durable. He has pitched 200 innings every year since 2005 and I don't expect that to change. He hasn't pitched in the AL since 2005. Seems like this favors him more than opposing hitters. His ERA over the last two seasons is about 3.75 and his K/BB rate has either increased or stay constant since 2010. In his two postseason starts with the Reds, he has allowed 1 earned run in 12 1/3 innings pitched. He would end up being our #3 so …

Interview conducted by David Saltzer on January 25, 2014 For fans, there's something special about a local kid making it to the Major League club. It's easier to root for a local product. And, when he's as straight-forward and down-to-earth as Grant Green, rooting for him becomes even easier. Grant Green was part of a special group of players from Orange County who have all ended up playing for the Angels. It included Hank Conger, Andrew Romine, and Mark Trumbo. Interestingly enough, they all played together or against each other at various times and maintained connections that lasted up to the Major Leagues. In our interview, Grant talks about their overlapping stori…

Wade is looking for a new walk up song and he has agreed to take suggestions from the fans on AngelsWin. Choose the song below that you think will help him get pumped up and maybe you'll hear it before he hits a game winning homerun! Whatever we choose for him, he'll use this season when with the IE 66ers in High-A Ball 1B Wade Hinkle posted a .270/.359/.435 with 13 HR, 30 2B in 444 at bats.

Kaleb Cowart has ditched the small town and moved to the big city. This offseason, the 21-year-old third baseman -- and still one of the Angels' top prospect -- left behind his rural hometown of Adel, Ga., and rented a townhouse in bustling Atlanta, to train at the heralded Goldin Athletic Training Association, and to, as he put it, "Get a lot bigger." By Robert Cunningham, AngelsWin.com Staff Writer - So I finally joined Twitter recently (@ettinone if you would like to follow me) and have become mildly obsessed with it. It is an interesting source of information and has a different feel from Blogs, forums such as Angelswin.com or Facebook for instance. It has also proven to be a source of inspiration to write as Dan Szymborski (@DSzymborski) made this thought-provoking statement earlier this week: At first I thought “Really? Is Dan off his rocker?â€ Then I said to myself “Hey wait a minute, Lindsey did have a solid AA season and he is young and maybe the stats might paint a different story! Go look!â€ …

Barry Enright helped Hermosillo to a Game 1 victory in the Mexican Pacific League final series. Enright pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings and yielded seven hits to collect his first win of the post season of Mexican winter ball. Hermosillo won the first game 4-0 and currently trails 6-1 in Game 2. New Angel Fernando Salas pitched well in the previous round of playoffs, although his blazing 84 mph fastball worries me.

By Greg, Bearringer, AngelsWin.com Columnist - The word around these parts is that Matt Garza is something of a contentious figure, with some wanting to sign the guy as a "not-too-rediculously-priced-#3-starter" and others wanting to avoid him because, well, "He's an injured douche." Of course, I have had almost no luck in figuring out why people have taken one (very unfortunate) thing he said and turning him into some clubhouse cancer-- other than, of course, that impeccable principal: "he always did seem like a douche." Anyway, Matt Garza has gone off to pitch in the ol' Midwest, strengthening the Brewers rotation in an inspiring bid to finish closer to third plac…

I know I'm going to get roasted, but I still think our best bet is Jimenez or Santana and lose the pick. We're not the Marlins. We can afford to lose one pick as long as it's not a regular thing. I know our minor league system is crappy, but I'd rather have the surer arm in one of the two I mentioned than go after Capuano or whatever dregs are left.

Dipoto has been stocking up on IF and recently said John McDonald has a good chance to make the team. Perhaps they looked at Garza, realized it was going to cost them more years and $ than they were comfortable with, and now plan on trading Kendrick for SP? They'd have Romine, McDonald, and maybe even Ian Stewart to cover 2B, with Lindsay waiting in the wings.
