Friendly reminder, Anyone partaking? Typical of every year the password is your account number. I'm happy the limit is 12 this year. I always try for a big group on Opening day and it being 4 last year made that not as easy. Anyone have a link to ticket prices? Only showing Club level prices online right now. I know they're dynamic and all, I'm sure opening day will be expensive with all the dumb TM fees added as well. Looking forward to the sticker shock of 7 tickets to a "premium" game.

New replay rules will undoubtedly introduce a new layer of strategy this season. The Angels will meet next week at Spring Training to discuss the logistics of expanded instant replay and who they'll assign to determine when to use a challenge. View the full article

to the thread where people were jabbing back and forth about pujols and his comments about walking away from his contract if he wasn't playing like warranted. i'm not saying that he will or won't, but there were a lot of comments about "nobody ever doing that", and so on. gil meche was mentioned, but that didn't satisfy. well, ryan dempster is forfeiting this years salary. he's taking a year off. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/02/ryan-dempster-wont-pitch-in-2014.html

I'm truly hoping that we will be in the hunt for a playoff berth when it comes down to the trade deadline. However, I'm going to assume at least one starter will struggle this year, so at the trade deadline do we trade for a guy like David Price or anyone else available? It would be similar to the Greinke deal, but with the thin farm system, are we willing to give up guys like Lindsay, Cowart or Cron? I am hoping that all five starters have good seasons, but the reality is that at least one guy always struggles. Would we go out and get Price if we are in a three way battle for the division title and there are multiple other teams in the wild card hunt?

Conditioning was one of the few things that actually wasn't a problem for Joe Blanton last year, but the 33-year-old right-hander is nonetheless leaner than he's ever been heading into this uncertain 2014 season, shedding somewhere between five and eight pounds. View the full article

By David Saltzer, AngelsWin.com Senior Writer As I sit here, writing up scouting reports for the AngelsWin.com Top-50 Angels Prospects, I know I’m getting old. When I type in their birthdates, and realize I know exactly where I was in high school or college on the day they were born. While I was taking some test, or on a date with some girl, they were just coming into this world. In my time, I have seen a lot of Angels play over the years. Thousands really, when you add in the Minor Leaguers. To be honest, sometimes the names or faces do blur a little bit. But I’m not so old as to be able to say I’ve seen every Angel play. I was born in 1972, and my first game…

Matt Stairs. Same height. Same swing. Same professional approach to hitting. Grinding out ABs. Calhoun is obviously thinner and more athletic. Not quite as much power as Stairs, but certainly more fleet of foot. Anyone else see it?

Mark Mulder has to be story #1. The fact that he's getting up towards 90mph with a solid breaking pitch and newer change up that breaks in on lefties and away on righties, one begins to wonder if he will be indeed the story of ST and maybe the comeback story of MLB for the past decade. One caveat is that even if he does return, the innings will have to be watched since he hasn't pitched for quite a while. But that does make him a perfect candidate for the utility role, with maybe 100-120 innings tops as a goal in 2014.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia says the rotation is "the heartbeat of your club.'' In 2013, 11 different starters put up a 4.30 combined ERA, the fifth-worst figure in the American League. So the Halos acquired young left-handers Tyler Skaggs and Hector Santiago in the Mark Trumbo deal this offseason to help bolster the staff. View the full article

By Greg Bearringer, AngelsWin.com Columnist - I freaking love making preseason predictions-- which is good, because I am terrible at them. In the past few years, I have had the Angels in the playoffs, Michigan winning the Big 10, and four of the worst fantasy sports teams EVER assembled despite getting Chris Davis in every league I drafted last year. But man, something about the month or so before a season starts that gives me the itch to be wrong about things over which I have no control. Anyway, here are the ten predictions sure to be incredibly wrong (even though one of them will be eerily dead on because, you know, randomness). 1) Pujols and Hamilton Combine for o…

Angels camp is loaded with left-handed relievers, no coincidence since lefty-swingers Robinson Cano and Prince Fielder have joined the American League West, but manager Mike Scioscia plans to put the most deserving relievers, regardless of dexterity, on the Opening Day roster. View the full article

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/so-what-does-a-mike-trout-extension-look-like-now/ "As crazy as it sounds, <b>$40 million per year </b>for those five years would actually represent something of a discount, given Trout’s expected production going forward. Even though it’s quite a bit more than Kershaw got, Trout is quite a bit better than Kershaw, and comes with less risk since he isn’t a pitcher. And the separation would be large enough that Trout would likely remain the game’s highest paid player even with future inflation, as that AAV in those years is unlikely to be surpassed any time soon."

http://www.ocregister.com/articles/angels-602006-murray-moreno.html Hey, Anaheim councilwoman Kris Murray, we’re not in Kansas anymore. I never thought of Anaheim as a place where country bumpkins might reside, but apparently voters there like their politicians gullible. Angels owner Arte Moreno huffs and puffs about wanting a new stadium lease, and tells the Register he’s frustrated. Join the Mike Trout party is what I would have told Moreno, which might explain why Arte and I don’t spend a lot of time together. But when Murray heard Moreno was frustrated, she had a cow. That’s how they talk in Kansas. As soon as Moreno let it be known …

The Braves bought out the three arb years and one FA year with a contract worth an AAV of 11.7. It is interesting to look at the three arb years at 7, 9 and 11 and the first FA year at 13 plus a 1mil signing bonus and compare it to Mariano Rivera in his prime where he saw three years at 10.5 and three years at 15. As I have written before the closer position dollars are much different than Mike Trout as a position player but this continuing trend of fully valuing players very early is a challenge and a risk for the clubs.

Just to make sure his arm could stand up to the rigors of being a starting pitcher after so much time off, Mark Mulder pushed himself to new limits around mid-January, throwing a couple of 100-plus-pitch simulated games. Then he backed off, tossing 40-pitch bullpen sessions twice a week as Spring Training neared. View the full article
