I just realized I straight up stopped giving a fuck about this team this year. That’s crazy. Anyways what does everyone think this team’s budget will be for free agency this offseason?

The DSG bankruptcy news today -- dropping the broadcasts of 11 teams-- will almost certainly push Arte in the direction of selling the team. A $112 M rights fee (150M-25% owned by the team) check not coming in each year makes the whole thing a lot more of headache, so if he can still get $3B he may take it. Just trying to push an optimistic take.

LOS ANGELES – Buttom’s up, Dodger fans. You have something to celebrate! A playoff win. Saturday’s 7-5 victory over the San Diego Padres in Game 1 of the National League Division Series snapped a six-game playoff losing streak and put the Dodgers back in the postseason win column for the first time since Oct. 11, 2022. For that, you can thank Shohei Ohtani. And Will Smith, Gavin Lux, Tommy Edman and Miguel Rojas. Together, those guys at the bottom of the Dodgers’ order ran the club’s most effective play: Put runners on base for Ohtani, L.A.’s leadoff man. “Everybody really contributed today,” said Ohtani, the Dodgers’ $700 million 50/50 man, who went 2 for 5, scored …

The good news is that the Angels seem to have finally committed to rebuilding, with a solid young core and no signs of big splashing it to revisit the mistakes of 2015-23. The bad news is that the results--so far (don't get your panties in a wad)--have been lukewarm at best. Here are some brief thoughts on the youth movement, and what I predict going forward. HITTERS Zach Neto is, without a doubt, the guy with the highest floor. He put together a season in which he had a 114 wRC+ and 3.5 WAR total; not star level, but above average and with displaying the ability to do a bit of everything, hitting 34 doubles and 23 HR along with 30 stolen bases. While his triple…

Vote! Big offseason and Arte remains the owner, or Arte sells the team to a very good ownership group and there's no offseason moves and the team sucks in 2025?

ANAHEIM — As Perry Minasian described his feelings about the state of the Angels building toward 2025, he often had to interrupt himself with disclaimers, so as not to get too far from the reality that they did just suffer the most losses in franchise history. While the 63-99 record looks to many like a colossal failure, the Angels’ general manager has no problem seeing through the rubble to the bright spots. “As far as the season goes, very frustrating from a small-picture standpoint,” Minasian said. “Big picture, there are a lot of things to be excited about. I believe this is the type of year that we’ll look back at a year from now, two years from now, and say that w…

The Angels are “in talks to restructure” their deal with Diamond Sports Group to continue broadcasting their games on television, a source said on Wednesday. The Angels are “confident” that fans will not see any disruption in the way they have been receiving the broadcasts, the source said. Attorneys for Diamond, which owns Bally Sports West, on Wednesday told a Federal bankruptcy court that the company planned to discontinue broadcasts of all its MLB teams except the Atlanta Braves. Diamond currently has deals with eight teams for next season, including the Angels and Braves. Diamond could then strike new deals, or change the terms of their current ones, to continue w…

As the offseason begins, here’s a look at where the Angels stand with their 2025 roster and payroll. For purposes of the luxury tax, the payroll includes the following salaries, plus about $22 million for bonuses, benefits, pre-arbitration salaries and the pre-arb bonus pool. SIGNED: OF Mike Trout ($35.5M average annual value), 3B Anthony Rendon ($35M), LHP Tyler Anderson ($13M), RHP Robert Stephenson ($11M), *1B Evan White ($8M). ARBITRATION-ELIGIBLE (2024 salary): IF Luis Rengifo (3rd year, $4.4M), RHP Griffin Canning (3rd, $2.6M), LHP Patrick Sandoval (2nd, $5.025M), OF Taylor Ward (2nd, $4.8M), LHP Brock Burke (2nd, $1.035M), RHP José Suarez (2nd, $925K), LHP José …

Honestly, that’s it. This guy sucks. I used to eat, sleep and breathe this team during baseball season. I did this in OC for years when we stunk, when we won and for years and years after leaving. I’d make and plan trips around being able to see the team. I’d watch as many games as I could. I’d never have expected to reach this level of apathy relative to the Angels. It sucks. Arte sucks. F*ck you, Arte.

Hello everyone, I was born and raised less than a mile from the Big A in the 60’s-early 70’s. Always an Angels fan. I’ve obviously seen the ups and downs of the team but the team in the 2020’s has been nothing but disappointing. I’ve always loved Mike Trout but for the three of the last four years he’s played 82 games or less and the other year was only 119. Why does he get knocked out for most of the year so much? He always try’s but it’s getting to look like he’ll never play close to a full season ever again. Rendon doesn’t seem to care during the short stints when he’s not injured. Yeah Anthony, I know your priorities have changed and you don’t care anymore. They could…

They're the only team to have never lost 100 games or more in a season. But, I think these guys could be the ones to do it. They can't hit. They can't pitch. They can't field. Maybe with a 100 loss season, Arte taps out and gives us all hope again.

ANAHEIM — After Brandon Drury produced his second straight strong offensive season in 2023, he went into last winter looking for even more. The result was a season that Drury described flatly as “brutal.” Drury came into the final two games of the season hitting .171 with a .476 OPS. Both numbers are the worst in the majors for anyone with 300 at-bats. Part of what went wrong is that Drury changed his swing over the winter in an effort to add more exit velocity. “I’m in the cage all offseason and I’m hitting the ball four or five miles an hour harder,” Drury said. “That’s intriguing. Who wouldn’t like that? But I think to create that, I had to do more movement and a b…

We better pray Trout has a Ken Griffey Jr. renaissance. Seems to me something like his 2005-2008 seasons are the absolute best case scenario outcomes over the next several seasons. Hard to not see the parallels. With the skill set, the age, and the back ground. Certainly, something less or substantially less than what Griffey produced in those years is on the table, and probably more likely what we’ll get - but it seems to me that if there is ONE thing we need to hope for it’s something like that. If we don’t get some kind of resurgence from Trout the proverbial barrel of the sucking shit shotgun is stuffed in our mouths and the trigger is going to be repea…

We’re at the end of a rough season that everyone saw coming, I know. It’s not the happiest of times, but maybe this thread can help us engage in some healthy debate and share some fun stories/memories. What I’m asking is that everyone share their five favorite players to watch all time. Not the best you’ve ever seen necessarily, or the greatest in terms of their career or a season. Just the ballplayers you got the greatest joy out of watching day in and day out. My personal top five, with all the bias (and I know Shohei has to be on here, but it’s too soon emotionally y’all): 1. David Eckstein 2. Vladimir Guerrero 3. Pedro Martinez 4. Ichir…

ANAHEIM — The official end to a season that has been unofficially over for months finally arrived. The Angels lost 8-0 to the Texas Rangers in the final game of the season on Sunday afternoon, running their franchise-record loss total to 99. After winning a game last Sunday to ensure they would avoid 100 losses, they lost their final six games to finish 63-99. The previous record had been 95 losses. The Angels, who won 73 games last season and then lost MVP Shohei Ohtani, were projected to finish fourth. They instead finished last in the American League West. It was the Angels’ 10th straight season missing the playoffs – the longest drought in the majors – and their n…

CHICAGO — Ron Washington is convinced the Angels can be contenders as soon as next season, and he doesn’t think they need to go big in free agency to do it. The Angels manager said before Thursday’s game that he’s not anticipating they will add any superstars. “When I say big-time acquisitions, I’m talking about going out getting a pitcher where we’ve got to give him $30 million or go and get a player where we got to give something like another contract like (Anthony) Rendon or Mike Trout, that’s what I meant by that,” Washington said. “That’s what I meant by that. And I’m not the one that makes that decision, but I can tell you, we’re not going to make acquisitions lik…
