The non-tender deadline is this week on the 22nd, the Angels biggest decision is whether to keep Sandoval with 2 years left of arbitration with a salary of $6.3 million this year. Sandoval MAY or MAY NOT pitch this year so if you are keeping him you are essentially just holding him in hopes he bounces back in 2026 to make all this money and hassle worthwhile. I am personally done with Sandoval and would be happy to see him never pitch again in an Angel uniform. He’s inconsistent, he’s a mental case on the mound and I think just needs a change of scenery. I’d rather clear the books of his money and use that space + Suarez release on FA’s or trades. What say you??

Left-hander Patrick Sandoval, the Angels’ Opening Day starter last season, was one of four players who became a free agent by being non-tendered before Friday’s 5 p.m. PT deadline. Sandoval, who is rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, would have made about $6 million in arbitration if the Angels had tendered him a contract. The Angels can still negotiate with Sandoval. He is expected back from surgery sometime late in the 2025 season, so any deal he signs would likely be a two-year deal, including 2026. The Angels also non-tendered outfielders Jordyn Adams and Bryce Teodosio and infielder Eric Wagaman. Adams and Wagaman had already been designated for assignment earlier i…

by Ryan Michael Falla; Featured Contributor Angels GM Perry Minasian has shown a number of qualities over the years that lends strongly to a coming success for the Angels organization, and one of those best qualities has been an ability to pull legitimate talent from the deep end of the draft. Year after year sees the Angels pull in steaming hot names in the final hours, from this recent drafts Trey-Gregory Alford and Ryan Johnson to 2023’s Rio Foster. The upcoming 2025 season looks to bear even more prospect fruit as 2022’s standout pick Samy Natera Jr, who came into the organization out of the 17th round, has fully established a rocketing stock after a standout per…

With no room left at DH I think he has a shot at unseating Schanuel at 1st base. Hope so. We need some power from the left side. Wonder if Schanuel could create some trade interest? Maybe a RP? What do you guys think?

Going Position-by-Position: Catcher • O’Hoppe is a stud. • Thaissy is nicey. Thaiss’ 15% walk rate is elite, and his defense grades out as average. If he continues to do these things while improving the bat, then Thaiss is legitimately a Top 25 catcher in the MLB and worth multiple WAR. With a 2027 competitive window, you want to see this one through. • Plawecki is 33 years old and coming off a down year. In the 7 seasons prior to 2024, he showed a solid glove and enough of a bat to be WAR-positive. No options, but a veteran emergency catcher who has been WAR-positive the last 7/8 seasons. • Pinto was a Devil Rays analytics darling. Through 25 g…

I am kind of surprised that we are 3 weeks away from the MLB draft, Eppler's first draft of his career as GM and there isn't a whisper of it yet. Now I know some of you guys have already been following prospect reports of potential draftees so let's hear it. Who are you going to pick? I don't think anyone can say which way the Angels are going to move in this draft with almost an entirely new crew but if you are in charge who are you taking with your first rounder. the #20 pick. According to Baseball Prospectus the #20 player in their field is a High School SS named Delvin Perez. Is it too soon to look at a shortstop when we have 5 years of Simmons under control? At …

While I know his defense has greatly improved, I was surprised he received GG attention. (However since DH Palmeiro beat out Erstad for a GG I haven't really given them any credence.) Is he our CF? If so how do we feel?

I would go with Andruw Jones, Bobby Abreu, Billy Wagner and Ichiro. If I was voting in PED guys then I would also vote in Arod and Pettitte and give them the asterisk. Abreu should absolutely be in.

Jordyn Adams, the Angels’ first-round draft pick in 2018, was designated for assignment as the team added new prospects to its 40-man roster ahead of Tuesday’s deadline. Adams, an outfielder, and journeyman infielder Eric Wagaman were both removed from the roster to open spots for outfielder Matthew Lugo and left-hander Jack Dashwood. Tuesday was the deadline for teams to add minor leaguers who would have been eligible to be taken in the Rule 5 draft, thereby protecting them. Both Adams and Wagaman could clear waivers and remain in the organization. Adams, 25, has hit .176 in 78 major-league plate appearances over the past two seasons. He struck out 28 times while dra…

Figured I would post that article since they do a pretty good job of predicting contracts. Looking at this and using these contract terms, who would you be ok with the Angels signing? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/11/2024-25-top-50-mlb-free-agents-with-predictions.html Snell, Buehler, Fried, Eovaldi for me would all be fine. I would also consider a reunion with Estevez at that contract, and both of the Kims as well.

Didn’t see this posted anywhere. Don't really have an opinion but obviously Perry and co. have moved on. This is my first time hearing his name and I was laughing at the retards on reddit flipping out about this. No idea if this is good or bad. Probably neither.

The world according to Jim: • At last, the Angels have a TV destination for 2025. Diamond Sports Group, whose TV contracts with a bunch of major league teams were in jeopardy, has escaped bankruptcy, and all is right with the world again. Right? Right??? … • Actually, the world of televised sports is transforming rapidly around us, and it’s not a bad idea to begin preparing now. And it’s not just junk events, like the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul “fight” with which Netflix broke the seal on its foray into live sports Friday night. There’s cable. There’s streaming. There’s over-the-air TV. And you just know there will be future platforms or ways of consuming sports media that …

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/11/angels-acquire-scott-kingery-from-phillies.html The Angels have acquired infielder Scott Kingery from the Phillies in exchange for cash considerations, according to announcements from both clubs. Kingery wasn’t on Philadelphia’s 40-man roster and won’t need to take a spot with the Angels.

The Angels are near a deal with veteran infielder Kevin Newman, who could provide depth across the infield, a source confirmed Thursday. Shortstop Zach Neto, third baseman Anthony Rendon and utility infielder Luis Rengifo will all be coming off injuries next season, and Newman could fill in for any of them. The Angels previously added Scott Kingery, who has a similar profile. Newman’s deal, first reported by The Athletic, would be a one-year deal with a club option, according to the New York Post. The Angels have not announced the deal, which would require a corresponding 40-man roster move. Newman, 31, is coming off a season in which he hit .278 with a .686 OPS for …

The Angels are taking a low risk flier on Kyle Hendricks, figuring that he has two ways he could help them. General manager Perry Minasian said on Friday that he believes Hendricks can bounce back and once again be productive on the mound, and also that Hendricks will be a positive influence on the Angels young pitchers. “We brought Kyle in here to pitch, first and foremost,” Minasian said a day after the $2.5 million, one-year deal became official. “We believe he’s going to be productive on the mound and help us win games. That being said, if you do the background, and ask anybody that’s been in Chicago about his impact on some of the players there, not only the pitche…

Travis d’Arnaud clearly understands exactly what his role is with his new team. The veteran catcher said he contacted Angels starting catcher Logan O’Hoppe even before his signing was announced so he could immediately establish their relationship. “I want him to be the greatest Angels catcher of all time,” d’Arnaud said on Wednesday, a day after the Angels announced his two-year, $12 million deal. “I reached out to him moments before it was released to the press, because I want him to know that I’m here for him. I don’t want anything to get possibly stirred up from outside sources. I made sure I reached out to him to let him know I’m always here for him and anything he …
