Have only been an Angel fan since 2008 so am not very knowledgable about the team prior (im an Aussie so not a whole lot of regular exposure). Anybody know of any sort of Doco or similar on the club and its history? Thought i read about something around the whole 50 year celebrations but didnt have any luck. Thanks.

For me it was when Trout doubled off of Matt Harvey to start the 2013 All-Star game.

David Freese is no stranger to postseason heroics. 2-run shot in the second inning. Cards lead 2-0.

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - OCT. 10, 2002 OFF DAY NOTEBOOK ANAHEIM -- Tim Salmon's right hamstring injury felt so much better Thursday that the Angels right fielder expects to be in the starting lineup for Game 3 of the American League Championship Series against the Minnesota Twins. ``Right now, I don't feel there should be any reason why I couldn't play,'' said Salmon, who had therapy on the hamstring that included ultrasound and massage but no running. Salmon said he had felt tightness in the hamstring for a few days before feeling it ``grab'' when he chased down a couple flyballs early in Wednesday's game. He came out in the third inning. If …

Core players 1 2

Now that we know the core management is returning, do you think it will be the same with the core players specifically Trumbo and Kendrick? I really think Bourjos is gone. Can Dipoto improve the pitching without trading any of them? Should the core players, like management, get one more chance to go for the gold?

By Greg Bird, AngelsWin.com Staff Writer - The Angels missed out on the postseason yet again and we are all disappointed. While the postseason moves on without us the Angels Front Office is evaluating its players and the entire organization. I’d like to write some offseason articles evaluating our current roster. This piece will evaluate the team using the same statistics which Dipoto would use. They may not be the best stats to use but they are stats the current Front Office will use. Back in Spring Training Jerry Dipoto came and spoke at the Spring FanFest. He was asked about sabermetric stats and which ones he uses. He said he encourages the team’s scouts and e…

Lost in all the kerfuffle about the postseason, at least for me, is the fact that Mariano Rivera has pitched his last ball. I was looking over his career stats and was reminded of something amazing which is exemplified by this web page. If you're link-o-phobic, here's the gist of it. Here are the top 10 all-time leaders in career ERA+, which is Baseball Reference's translation of ERA to a context-neutral number. 100 is average at any time (so about 4.00 now, 5.00 in the late 90s), 120 is very good, and 140 is great - for single seasons. For career numbers, adjust down a bit. 1. Mariano Rivera 205 2. Pedro Martinez 154 3. Joe Devlin 150 4. Lefty Grove 148 5t. W…

There's been talk about re-signing Morales. I think it's unlikely, but if we could who would you rather have? I'd take Morales.

There are articles saying Texas is his likely destination. They do need a 1b but I wouldn't want him for the price he's going to command. Would you want him?

Maybe I'm just impatient, but while a lack of news of personnel changes may suggest that there will not be changes, I also find it interesting that there is not an effort to quickly reaffirm a commitment to Scioscia and Dipoto or anyone else for that matter. I would think it means that everything is on the table and being considered. But I also thought the Angels would be competitive this past season, so clearly I have no credibility at all.

Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto and long-time skipper Mike Scioscia will both be staying on for next season, despite year-long speculation that at least one of them would be dismissed after a fourth consecutive playoff absence. View the full article

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/10/08/report-unhappy-braves-boycotted-chipper-jones-1st-pitch/ Jones threw out the first pitch in Atlanta prior to Game 1 of the NLDS, but didn’t get to uncork it to a player. Instead he delivered to the Braves’ mascot behind home plate. Why? Nobody “volunteered to catch Jones after he picked the Los Angeles Dodgers to beat Atlanta in four games during a radio interview on the team’s flagship station, according to the New York Post.

Would you guys do it? He is potentially the best FA pitcher and he's still just 31. Maybe his inconsistency will drive down his price, but in any given year he can be a solid #2. Did he leave on good terms/ did he enjoy his time with the Angels? If so, he might be the best option after the Japanese pitcher for the 3 spot.
