Maybe I'm just impatient, but while a lack of news of personnel changes may suggest that there will not be changes, I also find it interesting that there is not an effort to quickly reaffirm a commitment to Scioscia and Dipoto or anyone else for that matter. I would think it means that everything is on the table and being considered. But I also thought the Angels would be competitive this past season, so clearly I have no credibility at all.

Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto and long-time skipper Mike Scioscia will both be staying on for next season, despite year-long speculation that at least one of them would be dismissed after a fourth consecutive playoff absence. View the full article

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/10/08/report-unhappy-braves-boycotted-chipper-jones-1st-pitch/ Jones threw out the first pitch in Atlanta prior to Game 1 of the NLDS, but didn’t get to uncork it to a player. Instead he delivered to the Braves’ mascot behind home plate. Why? Nobody “volunteered to catch Jones after he picked the Los Angeles Dodgers to beat Atlanta in four games during a radio interview on the team’s flagship station, according to the New York Post.

Would you guys do it? He is potentially the best FA pitcher and he's still just 31. Maybe his inconsistency will drive down his price, but in any given year he can be a solid #2. Did he leave on good terms/ did he enjoy his time with the Angels? If so, he might be the best option after the Japanese pitcher for the 3 spot.

If the AL West Champion $60M Oakland A's and our crosstown rival Los Angeles Dodgers both make it to the WS Arte is going to fire everybody.

http://deadspin.com/as-tigers-trade-****-you-s-then-shoves-as-fight-brea-1442147216 Grant Balfour's no stranger to brawls in the ALDS sparked by profanity, and he was at the center of one again today in the ninth as he attempted to close out a win for the A's against the Tigers. Alas, Victor Martinez was going to make sure today's bottom of the ninth would be punctuated with pugilism. Kudos to MLB Network for giving us wide open microphones on the field!

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - OCT. 8, 2002 ALCS GAME 1 ANGELS AT TWINS MINNEAPOLIS -- Roger Clemens couldn't do it. Neither could Andy Pettitte. Ditto for Mike Mussina and David Wells. While the Angels hitters demolished New York Yankees pitching in the Division Series, they found Minnesota Twins starter Joe Mays not nearly as accommodating. Mays did what none of the Yankees could, shutting down an Angels offense as the Twins took Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, 2-1, before 55,562 at the Metrodome. ``It doesn't matter what the names are, it matters where you throw the ball,'' said Angels first baseman Scott Spiezio, one of five …

Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price, the reigning Cy Young Award winner in the American League, took to Twitter to bash his perceived critics after he took the loss against the Boston Red Sox in Game 2 of the AL Division Series on Saturday, singling out two TBS network commentators as "nerds." Dirk Hayhurst...COULDNT hack it...Tom Verducci wasn't even a water boy in high school...but yet they can still bash a player...SAVE IT NERDS — David Price (@DAVIDprice14) October 6, 2013 Price muttered the same insult -- mild by the cultural norm of the clubhouse -- as he walked away from reporters questioning him after Saturday's game at Fenway Park. "Sweet questions, nerds," he s…

So, if we had not signed Pujols after 2011 (Wacha being selected by St.L. with our 1st 2012 pick), and drafted Sonny Gray instead of Cron, we could have had a 2014 rotation of: Weaver, Wilson, Wacha, Gray, and Richards. And we still don't know how Pujols will ever fare again. Excuse me, while I get VIOLENTLY sick.

If you haven't ever had the honor, let me be the first to tell you that, as a fan, it's a strange feeling when your childhood baseball hero gets tagged with a 7-15 year sentence for fondling minors. I used to idolize Chad Curtis when I was in the 3rd or 4th grade. In fact, I still vividly remember going to Angels Stadium for a team autograph session where he signed and handed me his baseball card. The card had a bible verse written on the back. I thought: "wow, how do these professional athletes stay so humble and down to earth?" Needless to say, I'm very disappointed. http://keepingscore.blogs.time.com/2013/10/03/former-mlb-outfielder-chad-curtis-se…

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - OCT. 7th, 2002 OFF DAY NOTEBOOK MINNEAPOLIS -- Darin Erstad lifted the bill of his cap to show off a scar on his forehead. Then he pulled down a sweatband off his right arm to show off another scar. Both came as a result of a collision with infielder Benji Gil on June 1 at the Metrodome. The Angels had trouble spotting flyballs in the Metrodome roof that weekend, so when the ball went up, anyone who could see it went after it. The problem is that in the Metrodome, it's so loud that the fielders can't communicate with each other. And if they don't take their eye off the ball, they might run into each other, as Erstad a…

So CJ Wilson plays guitar too? Only the Texas Ranger could have come up with this fail of a promo. Was CJ playing Guitar Hero in the clubhouse, and they decided this was what the fans wanted to see?

Trout plans to get fat this off season eating his new favorite Subway sandwich. Nice interview with our favorite Angel. http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/1797568-mike-trout-talks-offseason-routine-and-how-he-had-to-adjust-in-2013?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=mlb As you might have noticed, Trout gets asked about the American League MVP award quite a lot. Recently, he conceded to Mike DiGiovanna that the MVP will probably go to Miguel Cabrera again. But on Thursday, he said on NBC Sports Network that he would vote for himself this year if he could. To me, all Trout would say is that winning the MVP "would definitely mean a lot." …

I'm just curious to see the progression of those nearly 40 pitchers taken in the 2013 draft. One would hope that, over time, at least say 7 of them make the big leagues and have at least some success. And those 7 aren't all traded away!

http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9749026/oakland-athletics-success-due-player-chemistry-not-metrics-espn-magazine Talks about team chemistry... Excerpt: We had Bezrukova and Spell run a fault-line analysis of this year's A's roster, along with that of the 2013 Angels, preseason favorites to take the division. The researchers found a big gap in Oakland's favor and signs of isolation in the Angels' clubhouse. Without talking to a single player, scouting a single fastball, looking at a single stat or really even knowing all that much about baseball, the researchers would have predicted that the Angels would disappoint and the A's would exceed expectations. Which is …

I tried to put together a list of possible replacements for Scioscia in case Arte decides to end his reign in Anaheim. Figured it's better to create a poll rather than throw out names in multiple threads. There's probably dozens of candidates out there that we've never heard or thought of, so this is just a quick list of some of the names being mentioned around here or in the media over the last few days. Edit: Removed Roenicke since he's staying with the Brewers. Removed Girardi earlier since it looks like the Yanks will offer him a new deal.
