Who wants to be the one to slap him? Voted Trout SEVENTH in the MVP race behind Donaldson, Cano, Beltre and Pedroia. Also the only one who had Davis winning.

it's the term "valuable" that appears to foster differing viewpoints when it comes to voting on the MVP award. In fact, the letter sent to BBWAA voters states "there is no clear-cut definition of what most valuable means." View the full article

Major League Baseball is withdrawing its proposal for a new bidding system with Japan, making it uncertain whether prized pitcher Masahiro Tanaka will be on the market this offseason. MLB chief operating officer Rob Manfred said Japanese officials had not acted quickly enough on MLB's proposal for a new agreement and that a new proposal will be forwarded. "We warned them, told them if this sat too long, there could be shifting winds out there, and suffice it to say there are shifting winds," Manfred said. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9976184/mlb-withdrawing-proposal-japan-bidding-system

MLB-Nippon Professional Baseball negotiations over fees for Japanese player imports have lagged, and MLB says terms may change. ORLANDO, Fla. — Masahiro Tanaka's anticipated move to the United States could be in danger, as the Japanese right-hander appears to be caught in the middle of an escalating game of chicken between baseball officials on opposite sides of the world. Teams such as the Dodgers, Angels and New York Yankees figure to be watching closely, as Tanaka's status could affect their off-season plans. View the full article

The Angels are expected to bring in former first baseman Rico Brogna to be a special assistant to general manager Jerry Dipoto, sources said. Brogna, 43, played with Dipoto on the Mets from 1995-96 and has worked under him in the past. Brogna's role with the Angels will be part scouting and part coaching, likely in the Minor Leagues. Meaningful games. A winning team. A playoff contender. However you phrase it or define it, this is the guideline -- unwritten though it may be -- that continues to carry clout in the hearts and minds of a majority of members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Proof positive arrived yet again Thursday night, when Miguel Cabrera was named the American League Most Valuable Player and Andrew McCutchen the National League MVP. View the full article

Like many of you I am not that impressed with the quality of free agent pitchers this off season. I mentioned my idea in another thread and then I saw Jeff mention something along the same lines. I would love for us to trade offense for young cost controlled pitching. We need to trade for guys like Kelly, I just want young arms that can win ball games. I would have no problem trading Howie, Aybar, Ianetta,Trumbo and Peter this off season, although I would prefer to keep one of the middle infielders. If we do make those trades, I would then go hard after Ellsbury or Choo. They both fit Scioscia's style of baseball, meaning they can both run a bit, and they both match…

I'm starting to wonder whether this will be the radical offseason some predict, or if it will be moderately conservative. Assuming a fair amount of positive regression to key players next year (especially Pujols and Hamilton), the Angels might just make a few minor to moderate moves to fill gaps and upgrade here and there. Here are some points to consider that, I think, lay out the major issues of the offseason, position by position: CATCHER: Iannetta might go, with the Angels preferring to bring in a defensive back-up for Conger. Alternately, I'll offer a (for me) rare trade suggestion: Offer Trumbo, Conger, and Grichuk or Cron to the Orioles for Matt Wieters and Ke…

They have the pitching that can help us out immediately, in guys like Andrew Cashner and Cory Luebke. I feel like we can get one of those guys and than add on maybe another young pitcher in Max Fried or Matthew Wisler and maybe even a near ready catcher in Austin Meadows. The number one priority is saving money for Trouty, and I feel that Cashner and Luebke aren't too expensive and we even can get some depth in our farm system. Any thoughts or other options?

Undoubtedly you've read countless articles already on what someone believes the Angels will do this offseason. I won't try to convince you this article is any different. It's just me guessing what I think the Angels will do. Give it a read. (Keep in mind, not what I'd do, it's what I think THEY will do) http://www.monkeywithahalo.com/2013-articles/november/la-angels-off-season-trade-porn-and-predictions.html

http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=sweetspot&id=42274 Brings up some good points, especially about trading Trumbo and improving the defense. No way I would want Peralta at third though.

This is half serious, as I was in the minority of hot stovers who thought the Angels would sign Pujols and Hamilton in the last two years. Why not sign Cano? Obvious answer, $$$. Trade Trumbo for a pitcher and replace with Cano's power. Trade Kendrick for a pitcher, and Cano fills his position. Trade two guys for pitchers, and get Cano's bat in lineup. Take a journeyman for 3b, Peralta or whoever.

http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/24227144/interest-is-huge-in-trumbo-but-the-angels-are-trying-not-to-trade-him ORLANDO, Fla. -- Mark Trumbo, a 30-homer hitter, is by far the Angels' most coveted player in trade. They could solve some of their pitching issues if they would trade Trumbo. However, the Angels are very reluctant to deal him. Of all their players being talked about in trade, he's the one they most want to keep. Erick Aybar, Howie Kendrick, Peter Bourjos and Chris Iannetta also are getting a fair number of trade inquiries. Trumbo is their big catch. But he's the one who would hurt most. "He fits us," says an Angels-connected person.

By Robert Cunningham, AngelsWin.com Staff Writer - Disclaimer: This trade discussion is purely speculative in nature and presents an unlikely example of how the Angels can improve their roster for 2014. FanGraphs WAR stat is used to help evaluate player value, but it is merely a useful guide for this analysis. This series of articles are meant to entertain, generate discussion and to show that there are multiple avenues to improve the team. Teams Involved: Note: This article is broke out into three different trade scenarios. The Giants are rich in pitching and there are multiple routes a trade can take. On November 5th, the OC Miracle League's founder and president Steel Morris had the following request. On November 11th, I'm thrilled to announce that we have more than met Steel's goal in securing a couple of used laptops to help the OC Miracle League and purchased two BRAND NEW Toshiba laptops to run their charitable effort. In fact, we not only purchased two brand new laptops for Steel, but have also come up with an additional $575 from several AngelsWin.com members to help their cause. In total, we raised over a thousand dollars. I would like to thank the following AngelsWin.com members for their tremendous donation to the OC Miracle League: tomsred MtAngelsfa…
