http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/royals-to-sign-jason-vargas.html The Royals have reached an agreement to sign free agent left-hander Jason Vargas, tweets Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports. The CAA client was seeking a three-year deal, notes Passan, though terms of the contract are unknown at this time.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/qa-michael-girsch-st-louis-cardinals-assistant-general-manager/ Angels ask what does the word process mean? What are computers? They don't hear RBIs, pitcher wins and clutchiness -- they run away with fear from these insights that can only be a result of a devil!

I've seen him play a few times, but with the injury this past season I don't think I recall seeing him play at all last year. Granted I probably watched all of 20 or so Angels games last year. What can we expect out of him? Is he a starter, or a fourth outfielder? Seems to be many differing opinions of him around here.

Seeking help at a troubled position, Angels acquire David Freese from St. Louis. Bourjos' departure frees center field for Mike Trout.<br/><br/>The Angels traded oft-injured Peter Bourjos to the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday for third baseman and former World Series most valuable player David Freese, freeing up center field for Mike Trout and right field for Kole Calhoun and allowing Josh Hamilton to return to left field.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/latimes/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/~4/qWm7zCYUTzk" height="1" width="1"/> View the full article

The four-player trade that sent Peter Bourjos to St. Louis was facilitated by the Angels' confidence in Kole Calhoun as the everyday right fielder in 2014. View the full article

With what we have right now, I am not sure what the lineup would look like. I want Calhoun in RF, but we need a lead off hitter in Shuck in the lineup. Here is what I could see a lineup being with what we have right now. 1. Shuck LF 2. Kendrick 2B 3. Trout CF 4. Trumbo DH 5. Pujols 1B 6. Hamilton RF 7. Freese 3B 8. Conger/Iannetta C 9. Aybar SS OR 1. Aybar SS 2. Kendrick 2B 3. Trout CF 4. Trumbo DH 5. Pujols 1B 6. Hamilton LF 7. Freese 3B 8. Conger/Iannetta C 9. Calhoun RF Kind of lost, so any thoughts?

After getting 3B locked up and taking on some extra salary, I see Howie as the most expendable trade piece. Trumbo can DH, be a 4th outfielder, and give Pujols time off at first, so he is valuable for the Angels. I think Howie will be traded for a pitcher and Green or another young guy gets a chance at 2B. Howie is also coming off of a solid year so he has good trade value. I really like Howie, but I don't see him staying.

ThTs how much the mets signed him for. One year deal. That's a lot for a guy that hit .200 last year.

Despite what Halos Heaven thinks... http://www.halosheaven.com/2013/11/22/5134578/david-freese-is-alberto-callaspo-basically In Freese's worst year, while injured with back issues, he performed as well as Callaspo. The 2013 stats may have been similar. In 2012, Freese hit .293 / .372 / .467. Callaspo hit .252 / .331 / .361 In 2011, Freese only played the 2nd half of the season, but he hit .297/.350/.441. Callaspo hit .288 / .367/.375. Callaspo hasn't had any pop since his year with the Royals. And even then it equates to what Freese hits in a down year. Freese can also get some DH AB's, with Trumbo in the OF and Jimenez or Romine at 3rd when he's d…

Doesn't fix the pitching but definitely a trade I could get behind... as long as we aren't giving away everything.

Yup, for winning his second MVP award as a Tiger he get's a $1 million dollar bonus according to his contract. Also included in his contract was a $100,000 raise if he came in second. Trout would have made 10 times his annual raise by now if he had that clause. Obviously Trout's agent just isn't really good at his job.

Jason Vargas is headed to Kansas City, and the Angels project to have roughly $15 million to spend before reaching the luxury-tax threshold of $189 million. Several needs remain: two starting pitchers, at least one reliever, an upgrade at third base and depth everywhere. View the full article

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/diamondbacks/articles/20131120kirk-gibson-fired-up-envisions-title-run-arizona-diamondbacks.html?sf19734305=1&nclick_check=1 I'm so glad Gibson is not our manager. It's nice and all to be self-righteous about one's sanctity yet their invented rivalry against the Dodgers appears to me they need to create drama to motivate their team. Sad really. Better hope their iWAR reaches Napoli-ian heights in 2014.
