It's a new year, time for our system to shine. Guys like Rada, Dana, Rios, Paris, and Kent to take big steps forward and guys like Adell, Joyce, Schanuel, and Bachman to grow into their skills. Please post all things related to the Angels Minor Leagues in here. And Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Years everyone.

Not to be confused with the Official Hot Stove Thread (and at the rate this offseason is going, there will still be FA signings happening after the season begins), post all things MLB related here. I, for one, could care less about the Minor tinkering that they did to the pitch clock, and am still upset that they won't get rid of the stupid phantom runner.

3 failed efforts to add frontline SP in Syndergaard, Anderson, Giolito Long list of awful relief pitching signings Bad extensions for Stassi and Fletcher, who weren't even free agents at the time Consistently acquiring players who predictably regressed after previously outperforming their peripheral and advanced stats or coming off career outlier seasons -- like Tyler Anderson, Ryan Tepera, Aaron Loup, Lucas Giolito Usage of most players in the league multiple times due to having to shuffle through wildly incompetent depth signings like Kurt Suzuki, Juan Lagares, Tyler Wade, etc. Failed to adequately apply platoons to mitigate production drop…

Game nine of the season, and Adell has only started two or three of them. In the limited ABs he's had, he's look solid and like someone who could be ready to break out. His ceiling is way too high to ride the bench 75% of the time. What gives? With the likes of Hicks, Sano, and Moniak getting more starts than Adell, you have to wonder if there's something else going on.

ANAHEIM — As José Suarez trudged from the mound to the dugout, Angel Stadium fans let him know how they felt about the start to his season by showering him with boos. The Angels’ left-hander entered in a close game and turned it into a not-so-close game, allowing four runs in the sixth inning of the Angels’ 6-5 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday afternoon. Suarez now has a 9.20 ERA in 14⅔ innings over eight games. It’s a small sample, to be sure, but the results have been consistently poor. This comes on the heels of a 2023 season in which Suarez had an 8.29 ERA, accumulating most of that in the first month before spending almost five months on the injured list…

I don’t get what happened in the 9th inning. Why did Adrianza hit with 2 on, 0 outs? Wash said he was up there to bunt before Adell stole 3B. But even after that, the winning run is still at 1B. Wouldn’t the point of bunting be to get the tying run into scoring position? So why’d they take the bunt off? Or why didn’t they have Drury or Thaiss hit for Adrianza? From what they showed on the broadcast, no clear question was asked about either of the last two questions. And obviously, no answer was given. I don’t get it. Got anything on this, @Jeff Fletcher?

ANAHEIM — Brandon Drury continues to deal with a maddening hamstring injury that he’s trying not to make any worse. “It’s definitely frustrating,” Drury said on Wednesday, the sixth game in the last nine that he’s been out. “I want to be out there and help the team and start driving these runners in, but I know that’s coming. For now, I want to get this hamstring feeling right so I can be out there full force.” Drury first felt an issue in Boston the weekend of April 12-14, and it got serious enough for him to come out of the game on April 15 at Tampa Bay. Manager Ron Washington didn’t put him in the field, on the turf at Tropicana Field, for the remaining three games …

Taylor Blake Ward made a trip out to San Bernardino to visit the Inland Empire 66er's and caught up with Los Angeles Angels prospects RHP's Riley Bauman, Justin Britt and Barrett Kent, and outfielder Joe Redfield. Check out the interviews below. Barrett Kent has seen an immense rise in his prospect status after a strong post-draft showing in 2023. Continuing to show his rotation prowess during the spring, he has carried that into a strong start to the 2024 season. Barrett talks us through his winter and spring and what will make him successful over his first full season. Logan Britt never pitched in high school and only faced three hit…

Please post anything and send everything related to the 2024 amateur draft in here. Anything from mock draft picks for the Angels and scouting reports to draft strategies and signing bonuses. Personally, with our first oick, we can draft JJ Wetherholt to be a lefthanded 2B to go with our young core. I think he could zip through our system, ev n with the time he's missed with a hamstring issue (hell, the fact that he's had a hamstring issue already makes him fit in with us already! Just kidding). Here's a profile on JJ: https://www.mlb.com/prospects/draft/jj-wetherholt-802139 My strategy for the draft would be to focus on a finished college hitter wit…

Watching Bauer’s Youtube channel has really changed my perception of who he is. Seeing how hard he works, and his commitment to his routine could possibly have a positive effect on the younger pitchers in the organization. Playing in Japan can really change a player, just watch Mr. Baseball…

ANAHEIM — In the wake another mediocre offensive performance in the Angels’ fifth straight loss, Manager Ron Washington promised that they were doing the work that was bound to turn their fortune eventually. It happened a day later. The Angels got production from throughout the lineup – including a first-inning home run from leadoff man Mike Trout – in a 7-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night. Washington put his star at the top of the order, a spot he hadn’t been since 2020, in an effort to “shake things up.” Trout blasted a homer on the fourth pitch he saw, marking the first time he’d led off the first inning with a homer since Sept. 28, 2012. Trout …

ANAHEIM — Robert Stephenson said his elbow felt “perfectly fine,” up until the moment that it didn’t. It was the second pitch of his rehab outing on April 13. The Angels reliever threw a slider and he could tell something was wrong. “It just came out weird,” Stephenson said on Tuesday, the first time he’d spoken to the media since the injury. “I just felt it right when I threw it. I tried to throw a couple more pitches after that, but just something felt wrong. I didn’t expect it to be as bad as it ended up.” It ended up with Stephenson needing Tommy John surgery. He said he’ll have the surgery on April 30. Stephenson said he will also have the internal brace, which is…

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Robert Stephenson, who received the Angels’ largest free agent contract this winter, will miss the entire 2024 season because of an elbow injury. The team announced Stephenson’s status after Wednesday night’s comeback win against the Tampa Bay Rays, but declined to give further specifics on the exact nature of the injury or what type of procedure he would undergo until Thursday. Stephenson, 31, missed most of spring training with a sore shoulder, but he felt an elbow issue four pitches into his first rehab outing at Triple-A on Saturday. He went for an evaluation on Monday and then sought a second opinion. Losing Stephenson is a difficult blow f…

This is the best matchup of the series for the Angels, at least on paper. Al Suarez is starting for the Orioles. Angels need to at least win this one.

First of all, Rendon is looking like that Silver Slugger 3B, again! Staying healthy, he's a pure hitter! I'm a strategist, seizing the moment's opportunity, and have pointed out in the past, the caveat with a team holding DEPTH. A team holding a key piece to such a team's puzzle in pursuit of a World Championship, holds leverage to get more value in return with tapping into it. (Look at what the Brewers had already done with Corbin Burns, follow suit with Reid Detmers by the game's Lefty that he's looking now. II's the Angels chance to bolster their base). Forget about Jackson Holliday (1) and Gunnar Henderson, but focus on others, it's STACKED! …

ANAHEIM — The Angels are trying to get Luis Rengifo out of his defensive slump. Rengifo made errors in two of the Angels’ losses over the weekend in Cincinnati, and a third misplay was ruled a hit. Last week against the Tampa Bay Rays, Rengifo failed to come up with a backhand play that could have been the final out of an Angels victory, and they ended up losing in 13 innings. That was a tough play that might not have been an out even if Rengifo had played it perfectly, but it was nonetheless part of a rough week. “On the defensive side you lose your rhythm, just like you lose your rhythm at the plate,” said Manager Ron Washington, who is considered MLB’s pre-eminent i…

Angels on pace for 66 wins, and the schedule gets tougher. No offense, no defense, and so-so pitching. A couple of bright spots here and there, but now Rendon is gone for who knows how long, and Trout is in a deep slump. Guys like Neto and Drury have forgotten how to hit a baseball, and Hicks is an automatic out. Adell is wasted on the bench.

ANAHEIM — Angels hitters showed some signs of life on Monday night, but not enough to snap their losing streak. The Angels ran their scoreless streak to 18 innings on their way to a 4-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles, their fifth straight loss. The Angels (9-14) were shut out on Sunday in Cincinnati and they didn’t have a run until Jo Adell’s homer in the seventh inning against the Orioles, when they were already down by four. A Nolan Schanuel RBI single cut the deficit to two, and they had a promising rally in the ninth, but they came up short. The Angels loaded the bases against Orioles closer Craig Kimbrel with one out, but Schanuel popped out. Mike Trout then was c…

Rendon was doing a great job with it though before he tweaked the hammy, damn it! Hopefully that doesn't hinder him for a full season, 🤞 Still, Neto, as Ron Wash looks around his lineup, might find that in him, who has speed and shows oppo field indicated by that AB tonight. We shall see.
