http://www.suntimes.com/sports/15357250-419/miguel-cabrera-might-win-triple-crown-but-mike-trout-is-better.html

"All that brings Trout to a 10.4 WAR, one of the 25 best seasons in history and the highest since Bonds’ 10.4 in 2004. Other advanced metrics also put Trout on top, with a 9.5 in the fangraphs.com WAR and 35 Win Shares, a Bill James stat. Cabrera comes in at 6.8 in baseball-reference.com WAR, 6.9 in fangraphs WAR and 30 Win Shares.

Since the Baseball Writers’ Association of America started electing most valuable players in 1931, there have been nine Triple Crown winners. Four didn’t win the MVP."

The voters don't believe in WAR. There lies your problem. They are old hacks that still value the avg, runs, and rbi lines.

Maybe 10 years from now when some of them retire, there will be some justice.

Keith Law has been getting blasted for using new math to justify Trout as MVP.

Lou Gehrig's is the strangest one of all. In addition to his Triple Crown in 1934, he led the league that year in OBP, SLG, and total bases, yet finished 5th in the voting.

Cabrera probably won't get the triple crown, so it won't help him make his case for MVP.

He's one HR behind Hamilton and he's tied with Encarcacion with 42 HR's.

We can only hope that Detroit doesn't make it, and Cabrera finishes with a 2-24 silde.

I would guess that Trout helps himself making the 30-50 levels. 30 may be real hard, but we've been dicking around with the 50 for way too long.

The hype of it all this late in the season is giving him a boost whether he gets the TC or not.

Mike Trout has stunk in the September.
.259 .376 .400 .776 with barely 5 SB and 6xbh and not even counting today's 0-3 so far.

It's too bad Trout has done jack sh*t in the last month and a half.

Also that LACK of hype Trout has created for himself this month.

I doubt Cabrera wins the Triple Crown. I'm not a person to fall in love with a guy for simply stats. I've always been fascinated by Trout, Cabrera, eh. He's slowly going 0fer's these last few at bats, if he's not careful someone will jump over him on the AVG lead. There are already two other people tied with him in the HR category.
