Random quote: "How much more do you need?" Weaver said during the press conference. "Could have got more, whatever. Who cares? If $85 million is not enough to take care of my family and generations to come, then I'm pretty stupid."

Angels manager is 38 pounds lighter than last season and plans to drop another 20 in an effort to improve his health. 'I realized I was getting too heavy,' he says.

He lost that weight when he was pining for Mathis and went on a hunger strike.

It hasn't ended. That's how he's going to lose the other 20.

He's been following Wicked's advice in weight loss thread.

I can't tell if the LA Times photo was before or after the weight loss...

Then you must have closed your eyes every time he appeared on screen or on the field last year! He looks great. . .relatively.

I was thinking the same thing. The picture was taken Feb. 22nd, 2012, but he looks basically the same as last year. I'm sure the weight loss will be more noticeable when he loses the 20+ more lbs. that he's planning on losing.

Maybe he's planning to be a player/manager this year so he can really show Hank how to do the job.

Tommy Lasorda has officially decided to disown Scioscia after his recent weight loss. Turning to the Angels was bad enough, but this weight loss idea is too much.

I see this more as a sign to his commitment this season to winning.

That was pretty much a stupid comment.

Didn't we hear this same story 5 years ago? That Scioscia had lost weight?

The photo, if current, suggests he needs to lose another 40 to 50 pounds, but the article says he's shooting for 20 pounds. Something doesn't make sense.

I hope he's able to keep the weight off. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he suffers from sleep apnea looking at the anatomy of his neck -- a horrible thing to have if you travel frequently like Mike does. Those CPAP machines are a pain in the ass.
