Location: Costa Mesa | "If the team that we have right now makes another first round exit, then what? I want to see the team win it all period and know that trades are part of the game. The team we have now won't be the team we have next year, so, why not make some moves to improve our chances of winning it all now and in the future?" Again ... shades of Steve Kerr and the Phoenix Suns. From first place in the conference to first round exit. This time around the Angels rookies are more experienced players and with the addition of Hunter I like our chances if we stay healthy.

tin00can - 6/23/2008 12:06 PM Can we please stop posting about trading GMJ (unless it is to say we can't trade him)? NO. TRADE. CLAUSE. He isn't going anywhere. Apparently Tin, you weren't around here during the Erstad era. The "trade GMJ" posts will never stop.

| We will stand pat. WIth the potential for Escobar in the pen I don't see us making any moves at all. We have one of the best records in baseball...I don't see a reason to do anything drastic. | |||

I was mimicking what we used to see on the espn board for trades involving big name players.

Major Offensive sTriker Out(er) like Dunn?? Yeech. More Over The hill Offensive old guy? Middle of the order. (Though I agree with you that it should have been defined at the beginning of the article.) Thanks, guess I win a new MOTO thread. Guess I'm in the dark ages.

All-Star Posts: 2572 | Although it's easy to get lulled into believing that the offense will gell not that we have all of the key components around, I still believe that we need another MOTO bat to avoid prolonged slumps and to reduce the number of times we turn an average pitcher into a "Cy Young" pitcher.

There is one way to convince GMJ to waive his no trade clause....have him swap positions with Juan Rivera....sitting the bench for a couple of weeks and he will beg for a trade.

All-Star Posts: 1553 | Angels08 - 6/25/2008 7:07 PM also, what position would we play him? How about DH. I dont think the Reds will get anything more than a minor league player for Dunn. He really doesnt have enough value for teams to give up much for him. Unless he signed an extension. Which wont happen, as he will explore free agency.

The thing is he would make fewer outs than anyone on our team right now (2nd fewest if Vlad returns to form). To the other poster: he can DH.

And, unlike several other potential OF/DH players we have, he has the ability to improve the overall offense by altering the type and quality of pitches that they see. GMJr does not do that. Nor does GA or Rivera for that matter.
